Meet Our MCE of the Month: Suzanna Garcia

Suzanna: I’m a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, I did my undergrad in Industrial/Organization Psychology and my Masters in Curriculum & Instruction. This year is my first year as a Lead Trainer of our new Digital Learning Specialists team. When I was in the classroom I taught 5th & 6th grade Social Studies to Bilingual and Special Education students. It’s what pushed me to find creative tools to reach my students where they were and I realized that technology was that tool!

Build Vocabulary (and a Beat) with Our New Vocab Game

We're super excited to introduce you to our newest feature, the Vocab Game! The Vocab Game is an additional way for students to practice a lesson’s vocabulary through multiple contexts. Students can build a beat by successfully identifying images, completing sentences, matching definitions and selecting synonyms for the lesson’s vocabulary words. This feature is also automatically graded, and features Comprehension Analysis, which allows teachers to assess the performance of individual students and the class after assigning the activity.

How I Use “Word Up” In My Elementary Classroom

If you need a fun way to integrate vocabulary into your instruction, look no further! Word Up is a research-based, standards-aligned resource that is proven to raise scores on state reading tests. My students absolutely adore being able to sing and dance along with the lessons. Besides the catchy songs and beats, one of the best features is the lyrics on screen. The lyrics are on every video, and help students recognize the words they are singing. They also aid ELL students.
