Bullying Lesson Plan
Once upon a time bullying was seen as an acceptable and natural by-product of children coexisting in a social setting. Thankfully, we’ve moved far past that. We now know how damaging bullying can be to a student’s emotional and mental health. A learning environment that seems to turn a blind-eye to bullying will never provide the sense of safety and security that students need to grow to their potential.
Many educators find that the best approach is to tackle the issue of bullying head-on. The following is an activity to facilitate a discussion about bullying and establish that your classroom is a safe haven from peer harassment. This lesson is adapted from the American Psychological Association’s (APA) page on bullying.
