Edublog Award Nominations 2011
This past year, we jumped full force into the world of educational blogging, Twittering and PLN-ing. (Last year we didn’t even know what PLN meant!) And the amazing stories of teacher collaboration and brainstorming have delighted us at every turn. Since we’re new to this world in many ways, we’d like to take this opportunity to nominate those of you out there who have made us most welcome over the past year in the online education community. We can’t wait to get to know more of you!
For Best individual Blog:
Cybrary Man’s Educational Websites
We’d say this is less of a blog and more of an online education encyclopedia. Curated by Jerry Blumengarten a.k.a. Cybrary Man, this website is a crucial map to the sometimes overwhelming landscape of online educational resources. And make sure to follow @cybraryman1 on twitter for all the latest resources.
For Best Individual Tweeter:
@GwynethJones a.k.a. The Daring Librarian
When you follow Gwyneth’s educationally-minded tweets, you’ll not only ensure that you’re up on all the latest education and library happenings. You’ll also get the latest delivered in a bitingly funny and friendly voice.
For Best Ed Tech / Resource Sharing Blog:
Edtech Digest
This blog offers in-depth explorations of all the latest edtech innovations. It’s not the place to go if you want to skim, but if you want the nitty gritty on all aspects of edtech, this blog is a required resource.
For Best Twitter Hashtag:
#sschat
When we first learned about teachers’ twitter chat communities, we asked educators to share their best results from twitter collaboration. The members of the #sschat community more than delivered. Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting #sschat and learning from these inspired and creative teachers each day!
(And as a very very close honorable mention, we’d like to also thank #engchat for providing a venue for brilliant English teachers to share their teaching strategies, and for inviting us to host a chat this fall.)
Best librarian / library blog:
Shannon Miller’s Van Meter Library Voice
Shannon Miller is putting Van Meter, Iowa on the (digital) map. This savvy librarian energizes the education community by sharing the best of creative education…a lot of which is coming from her very own school! Check out Shannon’s blog and get inspired.
Best educational use of a social network:
Making Curriculum Pop
This community of educators is invested in using students’ interests to drive their curriculum. And that is something we can get behind in a big way!
